Hello, come in, come and have a cuppa ... I have a quiet home day today ... full of laundry and exciting accounts, but no mad rushing around! Before I settle into some accounts, I thought I would quickly change my seasonal tree to hearts.
I have the lovely ones I made last year, and this year I have done a bit of needle felting. It has been years since I have done any and I forgot how much I enjoyed it ... I am thinking of selling some felting tools and bits in my shop, what do you think?
I just made some simple hearts this time but I love how they turned out! The boys now want me to make them budgies and eggs ... but that has made me think hanging felt eggs for Easter would be fun!
Have you tried needle felting, or do you do it a lot? I'd love to see what you've made! Or have you made any hanging hearts for your seasonal tree? Please share and inspire us all!
I have some sweet hanging hearts in my shop here ->
Including the rustic bell ones that I made last year!
Hello February and hello little signs of Spring! I'm loving seeing the daffodil bulbs poking through as well as the snowdrops!
I did manage to finish a kit I got for Christmas, work on a bit of patchwork and made a Robin bird for my Seasonal Tree ... it didn't turn out quite how I wanted it to, but I think the problem was I sewed it with the sewing machine and I needed to have hand sewn it to get a more exact shape. I have also started on a blue tit, but undone the machine sewing and will re-hand sew it. I painted them on calico and have sewn on little eyes. Also with the Robin I should have done some stitching to show the wing and feathers better. I have seen some lovely pictures of friends and family creations in the last week and I am so inspired by them all.
What have you been making or finished so far this year? Please share, I'd love to see!
I saw the loveliest post on instagram the other day by @eluminelle ... about cosy guide to survive January and February, when the holidays are gone but Spring is not here yet!
1 Start a new, old fashioned, hobby. Perfect for this quiet beginning of the year. Examples: knitting, embroidery, journalling with a fountain pen etc.
2 Bring Spring indoors with bulbs. Hyacinths, tulips or narcissus growing slowly but surely, filling the home with scent and hope before real Spring arrives.
3 Take long walks in nature. Especially if there is snow. Winter walks refresh the body and clear the mind.
4 Learn to craft a Victorian Puzzle Purse. A folded paper with hidden messages - a calming craft and perfect handmade gift for February 14th.
5 Clear space, clear mind. Leaving old things behind helps the mind breathe. Recycle, donate, sell and create space for new ideas.
6 Listen to your Winter body. Winter brings less sun and less dopamine. Something sweet and comforting is not indulgence - it's care. Your body needs it now.
7 Remember it is still Winter. Don't demand constant efficiency from your body or mind. Rest is part of the season. Allow yourself the same rhythm: slower days and less pressure.
How lovely are those!
I am definitely a slow January person and here are some great sayings to remind yourself how lovely Winter can be.
