Bird Peanut Butter
Steve loves his garden birds and for Christmas he got a big bird peanut butter holder and some pot of specialist peanut butter. The birds took a while to figure out what it was but they soon loved it and we have gone through the 6 pots we had with it!
We decided to make our own rather than spend a fortune on the special pots! If you want to treat your birds during Winter and while they are breeding, it is very good for them!
Here is the simple recipe we have used. You want to make sure you use peanut butter with no added salt or sugar or sweetener.
You need:
200g Lard
250g Crunchy Peanut Butter
180g Oats
280g Bird Seed or Sunflower Hearts
Melt the lard and add in the peanut butter.
Stir in the oats and seeds.
Pour into containers and leave to cool to solidify (you can pop in the freezer if you want a quicker setting time)
We messed up and when we poured into the original pots, they melted so are all deformed!! They still work but look bumpy!
I'd love to know if your birds love it or if you have a different recipe!
