I have at last framed my bird painting that I finished before Christmas, and I want it to have a little perminant place here as it took me ages to finish. There was a lot of putting down and not working on it, so it feels momentous to have it at last on the wall!!

One of our favourite gifts this year was this beautiful painting by my very talented mum. The birds in the hedgerow are just like the birds popping out of our back hedge by our patio.
When someone hand makes or paints a gift it really means so much!
Did you make or receive any handmade gifts this Christmas?
Have you ever received a gift that made you cry??
I received one yesterday ... It was made for my by my best friend who started making beautiful junk journals about a year ago.
This is the most precious gift and I am still shocked at the time she must have spent on me!
Isn't it perfect for me! Full of lace and woodland loveliness!! I have always loved The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady by Elizabeth Holden. I inherited the books from my Nanny when I was a teenager and its always inspired my book making and journaling!
Tina has a YouTube channel where she shares what she makes. She has done a couple of videos about this journal which I have only watched this morning as I didn't want to spoil the surprise!
If you would like to follow her, she has a Facebook page that she has just started, and if you would like to commission one, every journal is unique and beautiful!

These beautiful watercolours were painted by my Great Grandfather Joseph Fletcher back in the 1920's and are available from my shop!
PADDLING
No matter how high I would roll up my trousers,
they always got soaked,
as the waves rolled ever inwards faster than I could run.
EVENING
The colours of sunsets reflected on the sea always take my breath away.
THE BEACH
Sitting on a rug that was always covered in sand despite my best efforts,
trying to read a book while the wind turned the pages for me.
STORM CLOUDS
Sometimes the wildness of the sea reflects the storm in my soul.
APPROACHING RAIN
No matter the weather we stuck out a day at the beach with layers of jumpers and wind in our hair.
SHRIMPING
The whole family peering in rock pools and squealing with delight when we saw movement.
LOW TIDE
Big sky, sun on the water, and the call of oystercatchers.
WATER'S EDGE
While my brothers were busy making amazing sandcastles,
I used to wander along the beach with my bucket,
for what seemed like miles,
looking for shells and other treasures that had been washed up by the sea.
When I got back to my brothers,
I would then decorate their castles with my shells.
today is a day I dreamed of ... all those Christmases I spent watching my family with their children and longing for my own ... and now here I am, with my baby. my gorgeous little funny baby. I know this year he is too young to know whats going on but this year the magic for me is back!
back in september I designed this years christmas cards ... it was just going to be one design ... owls on the roof of a log cabin, but the owls just looked too big and it didn't look right so I ended up with two designs :)
a happy owl couple all wrapped up for a cold winter ... yep thats me and Steve!
I printed out extra owl couples so I could cut them out and make them as decopage with sticky pads
... you can just see here that its 3d ... I drew all the feet afterwards ...
... and this is our cosy log cabin ...
also 3d ... and with an extra layer on the front tree too!
I also did some without the padded layers so they could go in the post as a regular letter size.
and sending out christmas cards is the perfect timing to include our new address to everyone so I also made a slip with our new contact details ...
